Every year the NYCD conducts two plant sales, the spring bare-root sale and the fall potted plant clearance. The sale times are usually one and half to two days long
The Spring Sale is for bare-root plants that are pre-ordered/reserved by customers on a first-come first-serve basis. Orders are placed by returning an order form via mail or phoning the order. Customers pick up their order at the districts’ plant material facility on the sale dates, usually around the first of April.

A combination of deciduous trees, evergreen trees, and shrubs are made available. The majority of species are native to our area, although a few are non-native which provide many conservation benefits. Many conservation benefits include: soil stabilization, shade/cover/habitat, wildlife food source, wind and energy reduction, a source of clean oxygen, beauty and aesthetics. Much research has gone into identifying native plant species that are best for attracting beneficial insects, including predators and parasitoids, to wine grape vineyards.
The Fall Sale is a clearance sale to reduce inventory of surplus conservation plants. The plants are containerized in 1 to 2 gallon pots and will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. Customers can come browse and purchase available plants on the days of the sale.
